Philosophical Tips of the Month
"The higher the monkey climbs the tree, the more it shows its arse!"
Sifu Bob
if you look at this from a technique point of view. What is the point of doing over elaborate fighting techniques that wont work in the street, 'keep it simple stupid' is the best way to learn Martial arts and have more chance of applying the knowledge you have learnt.
The Cross Roads of Wing Chun
Wing Chun is like a book... You get to the last page and you say "Now what". You have arrived at the crossroads. Wing Chun has given you all the tools and all the knowledge required (providing you have asked all the right questions to your Sifu). It then say's "I've put everything in place, now its up to you!" Only our lack of imagination and spirit prevents us from going further, there are no limits to what you can achieve using all the tools put in place. Explore different training modes, be more dynamic. Look at it from a different angle; ask yourself how long has it taken you to complete the system? A few years maybe? Now ask yourself do you really understand everything you have learnt. We are like children playing with toys, we see a new toy and we want to play with that one and forget what you have already had. Wing Chun isn't the problem it's us. Once you have read a book, you go back to the beginning if you liked it and read it through again, this time you see new bits all the time. Bits that your brain didn't register the first time round and now you see it from a different perspective. Maybe the Wing Chun is questioning us? "Have you got the ability to be free or can you only work within the system?"
Wing Chun has taken you this far. Explore Wing Chun and write the second book...
